WHO WE ARE

Joel and Jason’s friendship goes back many years, but the idea to create American Sauna came from their shared passion for health, wellness and hot and cold therapy.

As they began researching home saunas and commercial health facilities, it was clear that many were being built incorrectly. There were countless examples of saunas being built with the wrong overall design and incorrect insulation, materials and ventilation. This causes situations where biological growths can occur within the sauna. After seeing this situation happen repeatedly, and the owners/managers having no idea of the safety hazards, Joel and Jason were inspired to build high quality saunas correctly.

Today, Joel and Jason build hand-crafted saunas for residential homes and commercial facilities. Each sauna is built from scratch using the highest quality materials for safety, function and longevity. Clients love the fact that they can visit the facility where the saunas are built and can try out both an outdoor wood-burning mobile model or outdoor electric model to experience the quality. On most weekends, you will find them hosting sauna and cold plunge events, all in an effort to bring health and wellness education to our community.

Meet our Co-Founders:

Joel Taylor - Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience

Joel spent his high school and college years gaining invaluable knowledge working in the construction and tree service industry. After graduating from Franklin College and a brief stint as a receiver with the Miami Dolphins, Joel chose to serve his community as a state trooper and police officer. Joel later honed his skills in the traditional business environment as an owner and later an executive in the finance and construction industries. Most recently, he built and sold a highly successful tree business that served the Fishers and Indianapolis communities for 11 years.

In 2019, Joel started his health and wellness journey when he learned that he was pre-diabetic. This news was a call to action to create a healthier lifestyle for himself and his family. He threw himself into researching and learning all that he could about hot and cold therapy, diet, exercise, and breath work. He purchased a kit sauna a couple of years ago and quickly learned that although affordable, the quality was low and many of the kits don’t get hot enough to realize all of the health benefits.

This put Joel on a path to learn as much as he could about saunas. Through this research, he visited some of the top sauna experts around the world. His passion for quality and craftsmanship along with his entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and American Sauna was born. He knew the perfect person to partner with in order to bring his vision to life.

Jason Guilliam - Lead Sauna Builder and Sauna Designer

Jason’s journey in construction began in his family’s garage where he honed his skills and began dreaming of grander projects. With over 25 years in construction and remodeling, Jason is a master carpenter and has crafted high-end kitchens, bathrooms and cabinets for clients across Indiana. Jason also began his journey into health and wellness and built his first sauna at home after doing extensive research in home and commercial sauna facilities. Since then, Jason has transformed spaces into luxurious saunas, catering to diverse needs, from intimate backyard retreats to expansive commercial wellness centers.

As the lead sauna designer, Jason stays current with the latest trends and technologies ensuring each sauna exudes beauty and functionality. He is committed to delivering the best in craftsmanship and is meticulous about the details. This is evident in each product he designs and builds.
